Rita Philavanh has a diverse work experience spanning from 2006 to 2020. In 2006, they began their career as a Math/Physics Tutor for Tutor.com. From 2008 to 2009, they worked as a New Interdisciplinary Research Workforce (NIW) Trainee for SDSU Research Foundation. From 2009 to 2013, they held the role of Database Programmer and Data Analyst for Celula, Inc. During this time, they designed and developed database-driven web applications and reporting tools that integrated disparate data in order to reduce laboratory workflow complexity. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a SQL Programmer for Infotech SM, where they performed data mining and cleaning on a legacy data warehouse of merged patient health information. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as a Software Engineer for Signal Genetics, Inc. During this time, they designed and implemented scripts, algorithms and pipelines that automated processes related to data ingestion and data transformation. From 2017 to 2018, they held the role of Data Science Fellowship and Software Consultant for Deeper Systems. Here, they assisted in the development of deep learning models for various predictive applications. From 2018 to 2020, they worked as a Data Analytics Engineer for Reflexion Health, where they architected and maintained data pipelines, backend software systems, and analytics reporting dashboards. Currently, they hold the role of Data Engineer for CureMetrix.

Rita Philavanh has an extensive educational background. Rita began their academic career in 2004, when they earned an Associate of Science (AS) in Biology - Allied Health from San Diego City College. Rita then attended San Diego State University from 2006-2009, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in both Physics and Chemistry. In 2010, they completed a Non-Degree Course in Biological Database Design from UC San Diego Extended Studies. From 2017-2018, they earned a Certificate in Big Data from Coursera.
