Markus Hirsch is a Senior Scientist at CureVac since June 2017, focusing on nucleic acid production and optimization, including assay development and cell culture/microscopy screening. Prior to this role, Markus served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Weill Cornell Medical College from April 2015 to March 2017, where the work involved the development of RNA mimics of fluorescent proteins and project management in a scientific environment. Markus earned a PhD in Pharmacy from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, following postgraduate research focused on siRNA uptake and delivery mechanisms, which built on earlier studies conducted during the Master’s program at Heidelberg University in molecular biotechnology. Additional experience includes various internships and roles in analytical chemistry and biochemistry from 2004 to 2009.
