Joseph Schmit is a seasoned data science professional with extensive experience in the insurance industry. Currently serving as a Senior Data Scientist at Curi since May 2023, Joseph previously held the position of Data Scientist Senior Consultant 1 at Allstate from April 2020 to June 2023. Prior to that, Joseph was a Data Scientist at The Hartford from May 2016 to April 2020 and worked as a Pricing Manager at Hastings Mutual Insurance Company from April 2008 to May 2016, where responsibilities included pricing and data analytics as well as managing product development for commercial auto programs. Earlier in the career, Joseph served as a Senior Contract Bond Underwriter and Senior Commercial Underwriter at Auto-Owners Insurance, and began as an Actuarial Technician for commercial property and liability. Joseph holds a Master of Applied Data Science from the University of Michigan - School of Information and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Business from the University of Michigan-Flint.
