Ilya Ageev

Ilya Ageev is currently the CTO at Cuvva. Prior to this, they served as the VP of Engineering, Core Services & Workplace technology at Bumble from October 2020 to March 2022. Ilya was also responsible for the strategic management of multidisciplinary teams at Bumble, orienting them towards users' needs across all major brands: Bumble, Badoo, and BFF. Additionally, they oversaw workplace technology functions to improve employees' experience across Bumble hubs in London, Moscow, Barcelona, and Austin.

Ageev began their career at Badoo in July 2011 as an Engineering Director for Quality Assurance. In this role, they managed an in-house international distributed department of 82 engineers in total, across 6 teams with 4 managers reporting directly to him. Ilya was also responsible for developing the Progression Framework for the whole Engineering department (~300 engineers) based on the SFIA open framework.

During their time at Badoo, Ageev led the development of the Product Dashboard - an automated tool to plan and track work progress for the Product team. Ilya also owned the responsibility for internal Code Review tooling, setting guidelines and rules for the code review process. Ilya developed and open-sourced the tool for code review Codeisok. Additionally, they redesigned and improved the mobile QA and RE processes. Ilya's other notable achievements include QA for native mobile platforms (iOS, Android, WinPhone), QA for Mobile Web and Desktop Web, totally rebuilding the process of Mobile Web deployment (moving from one release per week to everyday releases), and QA for server-client API (google protobuffers based), c/c++ and golang services.

Under Ageev's leadership, Badoo also launched a bounty program for security vulnerabilities which started as an in-house initiative but is now hosted on hackerone.com. Ilya also unified features coverage by system and integration tests for all platforms and automated the submission of mobile apps in stores - including assets and translations.

Ilya Ageev has a Master of Science in Computer Software Engineering from the International University of Kyrgyzstan, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Systems Analysis and Management from the same school. Ilya also has a certification from the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford in Executive Leadership.
