Matt Barrett has a diverse work experience in the cybersecurity field. Matt has held various leadership roles in different companies and organizations.
In 2007, Barrett started as a Program Manager at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where they managed the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) and supported the Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC) initiative until 2009.
From 2009 to 2014, Barrett served as the President of G2, Inc., a Maryland-based firm specializing in cyber and intelligence solutions for the US government. Matt then became the President of Trusted Security Alliance from 2011 to 2014.
In 2014, Barrett took on the role of Chief Executive Officer at Second Life Pharma PBC, a company focused on reclaiming unused medicines from the pharmaceutical supply chain and redistributing them to clients and charitable recipients. Matt also established their own company, Barrett LLC, where they worked as an Owner & Proposal Consultant for a short period of time.
Barrett joined the National Institute of Standards and Technology again in 2014, this time as a Program Manager for the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Matt fulfilled the Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2014 by developing and managing the framework until 2019.
Throughout 2019, Barrett was involved in multiple ventures. Matt co-founded and served as the Chief Operating Officer of CyberESI Consulting Group, a cybersecurity contractor specializing in visibility engineering. Matt also co-founded US CyberDome, a nonprofit organization offering cybersecurity services for political parties and elected officials.
Additionally, Barrett co-founded and was the Chief Operating Officer of BlackhawkNest, a company whose focus is not specified.
