Wayne Austad has a diverse work experience in the field of cybersecurity and technology. Wayne currently holds the position of Chief R&D Officer at CyManII, where they focus on developing and validating secure manufacturing architectures. Prior to this, they worked at the Idaho National Laboratory for 10 years, serving as the Chief Technology Officer for National & Homeland Security and the Technical Director of the Cybercore Integration Center. Wayne also held the role of Director of the Mission Support Center, where they were responsible for delivering new methods for cyber threat detection and analysis.

Before joining the Idaho National Laboratory, Wayne worked at Conoco, Inc as an Engineering Intern and Engineer. Wayne later joined the Department of Energy - Idaho Operations as an Engineer. Wayne's earlier experiences include various technical lead and engineering development positions at the Idaho National Laboratory, where they contributed to the creation of a full-scale Wireless Test Range and transformed the lab into a leading control systems security facility. Overall, Wayne Austad has extensive expertise in cybersecurity and technology development.

Wayne Austad completed their high school education at Bonneville High School, where they received a diploma in 1985. Wayne then pursued higher education at the University of Wyoming, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from 1985 to 1990. Subsequently, they continued their studies at the same university, completing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from 1990 to 1992.
