Christopher Smith

Associate Director, Statistical Programming at Cytel

Christopher Smith has a strong background in statistical programming and medical informatics. Christopher began their career as a Statistical Analyst at QST Consultations in 2005, where they programmed tables, listings, and figures for clinical trial studies and pharmaceutical clients. Christopher also played a key role in the company's first CDISC compliant submission, which received FDA approval.

In 2010, Christopher joined Priority Health as a Medical Informatics Consultant II, where they analyzed health care claims data using SAS and Oracle PL/SQL. Christopher also published SAS programming standards and mentored new SAS programmers.

From 2011 to 2015, Christopher worked as a Senior Statistical Programmer at inVentiv Health Clinical. Christopher was a member of an international statistical programming team, providing support to a top 20 pharmaceutical company. Christopher led ad hoc reporting efforts and completed urgent requests from regulatory agencies.

Since 2015, Christopher has been working at Cytel. Christopher started as a Senior Statistical Programmer and was responsible for providing statistical programming support to a world-leading biotechnology company. Christopher trained new employees on client systems and macros and also created macro templates. Christopher eventually progressed to the role of Principal Statistical Programmer, where they upgraded the client reporting system and co-authored a SAS Global Forum paper on using RTF to produce clinical reports. Currently, Christopher holds the role of Associate Director, Statistical Programming at Cytel.

Christopher Smith has a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biostatistics from Grand Valley State University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Magna Cum Laude in Mathematics from the same university. In addition to their formal education, Christopher has acquired several certifications, including "Inspiring and Motivating Individuals" by the University of Michigan through Coursera Course Certificates in February 2016 and "The Data Scientist's Toolbox" through Coursera Course Certificates in January 2015. Christopher also holds multiple SAS certifications, including "SAS Certified Statistical Business Analyst Using SAS 9: Regression and Modeling" obtained in July 2012, "SAS Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9" obtained in June 2011, "SAS Certified Clinical Trials Programmer Using SAS 9" obtained in May 2011, and "SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9" obtained in April 2011.
