Alan Baratz has an extensive work experience in various roles and positions. Alan is currently serving as the President and CEO of D-Wave Systems Inc. since January 2020. Prior to this, they held the positions of EVP, R&D and Chief Product Officer at D-Wave Systems Inc. from August 2018 to January 2020, and SVP, Software and Applications from August 2017 to August 2018.
Before joining D-Wave Systems Inc., Alan worked at Symphony.com as the EVP of Marketing and New Business Strategy from January 2017 to August 2017.
Alan also served as the CEO and President of AlertGPS, a technology-based safety company, from August 2013 to December 2016. Alan was responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of the company.
In addition, Alan has experience in angel investing and technology business consulting as an Angel Investor and Technology Business Consultant at A.E. Baratz from May 2012 to July 2013.
Prior to that, Alan held executive positions at Avaya as SVP and President, Global Communications Solutions from 2008 to 2012, and at Cisco Systems as SVP, Network Software and Systems from June 2007 to February 2008.
Alan also served as the CEO and President of NeoPath Networks, a storage management startup, from 2005 to 2007. The company was later acquired by Cisco.
Before their time at NeoPath Networks, Alan served as the CEO and President of Versata from 2003 to 2005, and of Zaplet, Inc. from 2000 to 2002.
Alan began their career as a Managing Director at Warburg Pincus LLC from 1999 to 2000.

Alan Baratz has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from UCLA. Alan also holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
