Allison MacDonald

Director, Science

Allison MacDonald is a highly skilled physicist with extensive experience in experimental and theoretical physics. Currently serving as the Director of Science at D-Wave since September 2015, previous roles include Senior Principal, Science and Lead Experimental Physicist. Prior to D-Wave, Allison held positions at the University of Alberta, including M.Sc. Student and Graduate Teaching Assistant, focusing on low temperature optomechanics and supervising student projects. Additional research experience includes positions at the Institute for Quantum Computing, Simon Fraser University, and McMaster University, with diverse contributions to quantum optics, machine-learning applications in particle physics, and nuclear astrophysics. Allison holds a Master of Science degree in Condensed Matter and Materials Physics from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from McMaster University.
