Under the artistic direction of pianist Sarah Rothenberg since 1994, DACAMERA has earned international recognition for its commitment to presenting world-class artists and commissioning new works from contemporary composers. Its programming includes a celebrated annual subscription series in Houston’s downtown Theater District and at The Menil Collection, as well as groundbreaking interdisciplinary performances, such as the Music and the Literary Imagination series and original productions like Moondrunk and A Proust Sonata.

DACAMERA's commissioning history features nearly 40 new works by acclaimed composers including Matthew Aucoin, Kaija Saariaho, Vijay Iyer, and Wayne Shorter. Its educational initiatives, such as the Young Artist Program, offer professional development for musicians while also enriching the community through free performances and outreach programs like Stop, Look and Listen! and A Little Day Music.
