Francois Burman

Francois Burman, Pr. Eng. MSc, is the Vice President of Dive Safety Services at Divers Alert Network in Durham, NC, where they develop and manage risk mitigation programs for diving professionals and hyperbaric treatment centers globally. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, they graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town in 1983 and later obtained a Master of Science in Baromedical Sciences from Stellenbosch University in 2014. With over 37 years of experience in the nuclear industry and a significant focus on diving safety, Francois has held various leadership positions, including CEO of DAN Southern Africa and Operations Director at Southern Oceanics. They have contributed extensively to industry standards through their writings and involvement in numerous international committees related to hyperbaric safety.
