Mary Carmichael

Mary Carmichael currently serves as the Head of Communications (interim) and Head of Science & Technology Communications at Danaher Corporation, which focuses on life sciences and diagnostics innovation. Previously, at Novartis, Mary was the Director of External Engagement for the US and the Director of External and Executive Communications for Biomedical Research. Prior to Novartis, Mary held the position of Vice President at Ten Bridge Communications and founded Quark 4 Communications, advising clients in biomedicine and healthcare. Mary’s background also includes significant roles at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, the Boston Globe, and Newsweek, where a focus on investigative journalism and health and science reporting was prevalent. Mary holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in Physical and Biological Anthropology from Duke University, along with a Knight Science Journalism Fellowship.
