Senior Electrical Engineer at DarkVision

Joseph Liu has over 10 years of work experience in the electrical engineering field. Joseph is currently employed at DarkVision Technologies Inc. as a Senior Electrical Engineer. In this role, Joseph is responsible for designing electronics for down-hole tools using ultrasound technology to image the inside of oil and gas wells. Joseph is skilled in schematic capture, firmware programming, and PCB layout for high-speed digital and analog circuits. Joseph also develops high-performing hardware using advanced multiprocessor system-on-chips, FPGAs, DDR4 memory, and gyro/accelerometers for use in harsh environments.

Prior to their current role, Joseph worked at Avigilon Corporation as an Electrical Designer from 2012 to 2017. Joseph also has experience as a Systems Engineer at Mobile Data Technologies from 2011 to 2014.

Joseph Liu completed their education in a chronological manner. From 2003 to 2005, they attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Diploma of Technology in Biomedical/Medical Engineering. Following this, they went on to attend Simon Fraser University from 2006 to 2010. Here, they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In addition to their formal education, Joseph also obtained several certifications. In 2006, they obtained the Security+, A+, and Network+ certifications from CompTIA.

DarkVision

DarkVision Technologies Inc. was founded in 2013 by a group of experienced entrepreneurs that have expertise and a track record in developing and commercializing imaging technologies. The company has developed a new ultrasound-based imaging technology used to image the inside of oil and gas wells. With a clear picture of the inner working of theirwells, oil and gas operators can make smart decisions that reduce operating costs, increase production, improve well integrity and minimize environmental impacts. Unlike camera technologies, DarkVision’s high resolution ultrasound imaging system is able to image through opaque fluids that have inhibited the widespread use of cameras and optics as a downhole diagnostics tool.
