Tim Luu

Tim Luu has a diverse range of work experience in the field of machine vision and robotics. Tim started their career as a Laser Process Developer at Laser Zentrum Hannover, where they developed camera-based monitoring systems for the laser welding process and programmed computers for plasma detection in laser cutting.

Tim then worked as a Prototype Developer at QuestAir Technologies, where they designed and implemented automated apparatus for manufacturing processes. Tim also worked as a Robotics Developer at the University of Ottawa, where they developed machine vision systems and calibration techniques for controlling a robot arm based on the motions of a human arm.

At Carleton University, Tim worked as a student and conducted research on integrating type and approximate dimensional synthesis for optimizing rigid body planar motion.

Tim's experience in the aerospace industry includes roles at Neptec Design Group, where they served as a Vision Systems Engineer and Project Manager for various projects related to space exploration. Tim'sresponsibilities included developing tracking and search algorithms, testing and analysis, and support in flight operations.

Currently, Tim is working at DarkVision Technologies Inc. as the Director of Data Analysis. Prior to this role, they worked as a Machine Vision Engineer, where they developed machine vision algorithms and visualization techniques using downhole imaging technologies for oil and gas wells. These tools provide detailed imagery and 3D models of wells, flow profiles, completions, and wellbore formations, helping operators maximize production and minimize costs.
