Paul Wilton has over a decade of experience in software development, and has been a technical lead at both the BBC and Which?. Paul is currently the managing director at Data Language, a software development consultancy.
Paul's experience with semantic publishing began at the BBC, where they were the technical lead for semantic publishing from 2009 to 2011. In this role, they developed a high performance semantic web publishing platform for the delivery of news and sports content. This included the installation of a highly-available triple store cluster and a robust semantic web services layer. Paul also led the development of the semantically published BBC Soccer World Cup 2010 website.
In 2009, Paul also worked as a software development consultant at Which?, where they were responsible for developing software to support the company's online product reviews.
From 2010 to 2011, Paul worked as a software development consultant at BBC Worldwide, where they led the technical development of a semantic-web publishing architecture for BBC Sport Online. This involved delving deep into Triple Stores, Ontologies and SPARQL. Paul was responsible for the development of the BBC World Cup 2010 offering, building out a high performance semantic web publishing platform using Ontotext's BigOWLIM triple store.
Paul Wilton studied at Paston Grammar School before going on to the University of Leeds, where they completed a Bsc (hons) in Computer Science. Paul then went on to study for a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) at Massey University.
