Tim Nolan

Vice President, Engineering & Innovation at Data Science Automation

Tim Nolan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Tim is currently serving as the Vice President of Engineering & Innovation at Data Science Automation, a position they have held since February 2022. Prior to this, Tim held various roles at the same company, including Director and Technical Director of Engineering & Automation Technology.

Before joining Data Science Automation, Tim worked as the Manager of Product Engineering at the company from July 2014 to May 2018, where they were responsible for developing internal products and providing guidance to customers during product development. Additionally, they served as the Senior Consultant and Consultant at Data Science Automation, specializing in systems integration with a focus on hardware and software platforms, including TestStand and LabVIEW. In these roles, they worked on a variety of applications in fields such as medical, industrial, academic, and R&D.

Tim also has experience as the Founder of Nolan Scientific for a brief period in 2013, where they established the company. Prior to that, they worked as a Project Engineer at Cal-Bay Systems from August 2010 to January 2013, specializing in LabVIEW system design with expertise in vibration analysis and condition monitoring.

Early in their career, Tim worked as a Research Technician at the University of Maryland School of Medicine from February 2004 to August 2006, focusing on the validation procedures and testing of medical devices under development. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Pittsburgh from August 2000 to January 2003, where they conducted research on sensor systems for biomedical applications and developed LabVIEW and Matlab code modules for the laboratory.

Tim's work experience showcases their expertise in engineering, automation technology, systems integration, product development, and research in diverse industries, including data science, medical devices, and academia.

Tim Nolan attended the University of Pittsburgh from 1996 to 2006, where they earned both a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Bioengineering. In terms of additional certifications, Tim obtained the following credentials: Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in December 2019, Certified LabVIEW Embedded Systems Developer from National Instruments in September 2016, Certified LabVIEW Architect from National Instruments in August 2013, Certified TestStand Architect from National Instruments in July 2013, Certified LabVIEW Developer from National Instruments in May 2013, Certified TestStand Developer from National Instruments in April 2013, and NI Certified Professional Instructor from National Instruments in August 2007.
