Scott Shimp has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Scott currently holds the position of VP, Solutions at Data Society since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked at PwC as a Senior Manager from March 2014 to August 2021. In this role, they led a team in delivering technology-enabled quality assurance and developed a rules engine in Python for data quality checks. Scott also created and taught a course on data management and analysis at New York University from May 2017 to June 2018, transitioning to a full-time professor in 2019 and providing guest lectures until 2022. Before that, they worked as a Data Scientist at Revelytix, Inc from December 2012 to February 2014, where they supported product management and sales engineering for a data management application. Scott's experience also includes working as a Program Analyst at the United States Department of Defense from January 2011 to November 2012, establishing metrics and policies for the Navy energy management program. Scott began their career as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton from June 2009 to January 2011, focusing on strategic vision and planning for Navy investments in energy efficiency and innovation. Prior to their consulting career, Scott served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kyrgyz Republic from July 2006 to September 2008, teaching English and facilitating cross-cultural exchange at a secondary school.

Scott Shimp attended Wyoming High School in Ohio. After completing high school, they went on to study at Princeton University, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in German. Following their undergraduate studies, Scott pursued further education and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Applied Economics from The Johns Hopkins University.
