Frieda E. Smith

Frieda E. Smith brings more than 35 years in nonprofit management to her role as head of finance & operations and senior consultant. Prior to joining data2insight she was Saint Louis Science Center’s senior director of education programs and galleries, where she worked for 16 years. She has also served as director of development for YWCA Metro Saint Louis, manager of volunteer services for one of the largest American Red Cross chapters and field executive for two Girl Scout councils. She is trained as a facilitator, trainer and trainer of trainers. Frieda loves to engage people in intentional conversations around embracing diversity and inclusion in organizations and communities. Over the past 30 years Frieda has trained and/or facilitated over 100 sessions on everything from customer service and volunteer management to several 3-credit college courses including cultural responsiveness and human communication.

Frieda also has extensive non-profit board experience and has served on the board of directors for Diversity Awareness Partnership and Metropolitan Community Church of Greater Saint Louis. She spent three years as board chair of each organization.

Frieda’s formal education includes a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Communication from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville and she has completed work toward a graduate certificate in science education at Washington University – St. Louis.
