Kun Yu

Researcher

Kun Yu is a highly experienced researcher with a strong background in human-machine interaction, cognitive load, and user-centered design. From 2004 to 2010, Kun worked as a Senior Research Scientist at Nokia, leading projects focused on UI concept creation and interface design. Following this, Kun pursued a PhD at NICTA from 2010 to 2015, developing techniques for quantifying cognitive load and conducting research on human-machine collaboration. Kun has held positions at CSIRO since 2017 as a Research Scientist, exploring human behavior and decision-making in collaboration with AI, and served as a Research Assistant at National ICT Australia from 2012 to 2015, contributing to driver mental state monitoring projects. As a Senior Lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney since December 2018, Kun leads the Human Performance Analytics team, applying data science methods to understand human interactions with the external world. Educational qualifications include a PhD from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor's degree in Pattern Recognition from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
