Athanasios Papathanasiou

Athanasios Papathanasiou is an accomplished engineering leader currently serving as Sr. Director of Engineering at Databricks since April 2021, previously holding the role of Director of Engineering. Prior experience includes significant positions at Amazon Web Services (AWS) from May 2015 to April 2021, where roles included Principal Engineer and Sr. Software Engineer, and at Guavus as Principal Engineer from June 2013 to April 2015. Athanasios has also worked as a Senior Systems Engineer at Teradata Aster and Intel Corporation, the latter where responsibilities included serving as Field Data Collection & Analysis Technical Lead. An academic background includes a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Rochester, alongside a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Crete.
