Chi Zhang is a member of the technical staff at Databricks, focused on the Lakebase/Neon storage team since June 2025, following the acquisition of Neon. Prior to this, Chi Zhang worked as a systems software engineer at Neon from February 2024 to June 2025, with an emphasis on the fundamentals of the LSM structure. Experience also includes a role as a research and teaching assistant in the CMU Database Group, software engineering intern at Neon, database system R&D intern at RisingWave, and storage system R&D internships at ByteDance and TiDB. Chi Zhang holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
