Gene Pang

Gene Pang is an experienced software engineer currently working at Databricks since 2021 and serving as a member of the Alluxio Project Management Committee since 2015. At Alluxio, Gene has held the role of Software Engineer and Head Architect, contributing to the development of an open-source data orchestration platform that enhances data access across various storage systems. Prior to this, Gene was a PhD student at UC Berkeley AMPLab, focusing on transactions for distributed database systems. Gene's earlier experience includes roles at Google, where responsibilities included improving MySQL and contributing to the development of the F1 Next-Generation Ads Database, as well as internships at VMware, Green Hills Software, and Microsoft. Gene holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a Master's from Stanford University and a Bachelor's from Cornell University.
