Jacob Hummel

Jacob Hummel is an experienced software engineer and former data scientist with a strong focus on strategic technical leadership and expertise in developing machine learning and data-intensive applications. They held roles at the University of Texas at Austin, where they authored peer-reviewed publications and designed tools for analyzing large datasets. At Overstock.com, Jacob contributed to machine learning solutions and developed systems for productionizing Python models. Most recently, as a Staff ML Platform Engineer at Dell Technologies, they provided leadership and drove best practices for analytics and machine learning solutions, and currently serve as a Solutions Architect at Databricks. Jacob earned a Ph.D. in Astrophysics and holds both a Master's and Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and Truman State University, respectively.
