Jonathan Chadwick

Jonathan Chadwick has over 30 years of experience both in the US and the UK and has lived in Silicon Valley for over 25 years. He has worked for some of the most significant technology companies and has a broad background in strategy, mergers and acquisitions, operational and financial management and has extensive team leadership experience.

He is currently a board member and advisor to a number of public and private companies.

He is the Chair of the Audit Committees of ServiceNow, Inc. the Enterprise Cloud Company (NYSE: NOW; since 2016); of Zoom Video Communications, Inc., the provider of video-first unified communications (Nasdaq: ZM; since 2017); and of Elastic, Inc, the enterprise search company (NYSE: ESTC; since 2018). Jonathan previously served on the boards of Cognizant Technology Solutions Inc., the $15bn IT, business process and consulting company, (Nasdaq: CTSH) between 2016 and 2019, F5 Networks, Inc (Nasdaq:FFIV) between 2011 and March, 2019, and of AppDynamics in 2017.

He also serves on the boards of a number of private companies. In 2018 he represented 4 of the top 10 companies listed in Forbes’ Cloud 100. In addition, he is an advisor to, and investor in, a number of other early stage, private companies.

He is the former Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of VMware, the leader in data center virtualization solutions and cloud management. VMware employed 19,000 people in over 110 offices worldwide and enjoyed annual revenues of $7 billion when he was COO. His organizational responsibilities at VMware spanned Operations, Finance and Information Technology. He was employed by VMware between 2012 and 2016.

Previously, he had been Chief Financial Officer of Skype, a provider of Internet-based voice and video communication, since March 2011, and a Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Corporation since its acquisition of Skype in October 2011. Jonathan joined Skype from McAfee, an antivirus software and computer security company, where he was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, prior to its acquisition by Intel Corporation. In this role he oversaw Finance, IT and Manufacturing.

From 1997 to 2010, he held various leadership roles at Cisco Systems, the leading networking equipment company, including Senior Vice President, CFO – Global Customer Markets, Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller and Principal Accounting Officer, and Vice President of Corporate Finance and Planning. When he left Cisco in 2010, the company employed over 70,000 people and had annual sales of over $40 billion.

Jonathan previously spent almost a decade in public accounting, most recently working for Coopers & Lybrand.

Jonathan qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England and holds an honors degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Bath, UK. He lives with his wife and two children in California.
