McClain Thiel

McClain Thiel is a machine learning engineer and PhD student specializing in AI for science, with a particular interest in data, reinforcement learning environments, and biology. Currently, McClain serves as a Principal AI Engineer at Databricks and has held notable roles such as a Solutions Architect and Machine Learning Scientist at Tempus Labs, where they were a founding member of the GenAI team. Previously, McClain led projects at Machine Learning at Berkeley, and developed algorithms at nference to transform biomedical knowledge into actionable insights. McClain earned a Bachelor of Science in Data Science from UC Berkeley and is pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
