Senior Principal Security Engineer at Dataminr

Sathya Ragavan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Their most recent position is as a Principal Security Engineer at Dataminr, starting in November 2021. Prior to this, they worked at BitSight Technologies from 2014 to 2021, holding various roles including Staff Cloud Security DevOps Engineer, Senior Cloud Security Engineer, and DevOps Engineer. In these positions, they were responsible for enhancing infrastructure security monitoring and asset management, implementing and maintaining security controls, and developing automation for building and deploying services. Before joining BitSight Technologies, Sathya worked as an IT Security Intern at Harvard Institute of Quantitative Social Sciences in 2013, where they completed various tasks related to compliance and drafted policies for incident response and data classification. They also gained experience as a Junior Systems Administrator at Nexage in 2012, assisting with server installation, configuration, and security audits. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Software Developer at Imorph Innovation Center Private Limited in 2008, developing tools for web data extraction and analysis using Python and Django. Sathya Ragavan's first professional role was as a Private Assistant at VKR Associates from 2005 to 2008, where they handled property document examination, title tracing, and drafted legal opinions.

Sathya Ragavan obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Sri Sarada Niketan College of Science for Women in Karur, India, from 1996 to 1999. Following that, they pursued a Masters degree in Computer Applications from Sri Sarada Niketan College of Science for Women in TamilNadu, India, from 1999 to 2002. Later, in 2011, they attended Northeastern University and earned a Master of Science degree in Information Assurance, which they completed in 2013. In terms of additional certifications, Sathya Ragavan obtained a Certificate in Developing Enterprise Applications & Web Services using J2EE Technologies from NIIT in September 2006.
