James Docherty

Regional Chief Instructor at Davis Defense Group

James Docherty has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. James started their career in 1982 in the USMC as an Electonic Warfare Officer and eventually became a Marine Advisor, Senior Marine, and Instructor. During this time, they also served as a Commanding Officer and Personnel Director. James was also a Counterdrug Operations Officer for the United States Southern Command, where they conducted and directed operations to combat the flow of illegal narcotics. In 2002, James served as the Commanding Officer of VMAQ-2 Marine Prowler Squadron. James then transitioned to the civilian sector, working as a Regional Chief Instructor at COmputing TechnologieS, Inc. and Davis Defense Group, Inc. From 2012 onwards, James worked as a Professor at the Naval War College, leading seminars on Joint Maritime Operations and Theater Security and Decision Making. Overall, James Docherty's work experience showcases their expertise in military operations, leadership, and education.

James Docherty completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Michigan State University from 1977 to 1981. James then pursued a Master of Science degree in International Relations at Troy University from 1990 to 1991. Following this, they attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College at Marine Corps University, where they obtained another Master of Science degree in Military Science from 1996 to 1997. Finally, Docherty attended Air War College at Air University for a Master of Science degree in Strategic Studies during 2004 to 2005.
