Marcel Pohl serves as the Arbeitsgruppenleiter Biogastechnologie at DBFZ Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gemeinnützige GmbH since August 2015. Prior to this role, Marcel Pohl worked as a wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at Cranfield University from June 2014 to May 2015, and at Leibniz-Institut für Agrartechnik und Bioökonomie e.V. (ATB) from January 2011 to December 2014. Earlier experience includes a position as Dipl.-Ing. at Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology IPK from January 2008 to July 2010. Marcel Pohl holds a Doktor (Ph.D.) in Bioverfahrenstechnik and a Diplom-Ingenieur in Lebensmitteltechnologie, both obtained from Technische Universität Berlin.

The DBFZ works as a central and independent thinker in the field of energy and material use of biomass on the question of how the limited available biomass resources can contribute to the existing and future energy system with sustainability and high efficiency. As part of the research the DBFZ identifies, develops, accompanies, evaluates and demonstrates the most promising fields of application for bioenergy and the especially positively outstanding examples together with partners from research, industry and public.
