A former tram depot in Amsterdam-West, now the crossroads of film, food, art and craft. Around 50,000 people pass through here every week, on their way to a film, a market, an exhibition, or just to see what's on.

De Hallen is a collection of independent organisations under one roof. Filmhallen runs one of the city's largest independent cinemas. Foodhallen brings together food from all over the world. You'll also find Hal West, Denim City, the OBA, workshops, fashion makers and artists, among others.

What connects these stories is De Passage: the central space where we programme exhibitions, markets and activities. There's a market almost every weekend, exhibitions change regularly, and there's always room for a collaboration with the neighbourhood.

The building is a national heritage site, having served as a tram depot and workshop for a century. In 2014, together with residents of the Kinkerbuurt, it took on its current role: a place for the whole city, built from the neighbourhood up.
