Dirk Eddelbuettel is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign since January 2018, currently serving in a 25% adjunct role. With a long-standing involvement in open-source projects, Dirk is a contributor, package author, and board member for The R Foundation for Statistical Computing since February 2002 and has been a developer and maintainer at Debian since July 1995, specializing in quantitative software. Dirk has held significant roles in quantitative research and development in high-frequency trading, including positions as a Principal Software Engineer at TileDB, Inc., and a Senior Quantitative Developer at Consolidated Trading LLC. Additional experience encompasses senior positions at Ketchum Trading, Simplex Investments, Wolverine Trading, and Jump Trading. Dirk holds a Ph.D. in Financial Econometrics and a Master’s degree in Math Economics and Econometrics from EHESS, along with a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
