John Tsai

John is a co-founder and Managing Principal of Redwood Bay Investors, a multi-strategy hedge fund. Previously, John was a Managing Director at Barclays Global Investors, where he ran the firm’s cash portfolio, at the time the world’s largest. From 1999 to 2008, John was a portfolio manager and principal at JWM Partners, where he ran the mortgage and fixed income volatility portfolios. He began his non-academic career as a strategist at Long Term Capital Management. John holds a PhD in astrophysics from MIT.
