Decatur Robotics a 501(c)3 non-profit that supports competitive FIRST robotics teams for K-12 students in City Schools of Decatur. We have 15 student-led teams that design, build, code, and operate robots in competitive leagues under guidance from parent volunteer coaches and mentors and support from City Schools of Decatur teachers and administrators.

Students give hundreds of volunteer hours each year and organize and lead outreach events such as a paper plane competitions, an intro to coding class for elementary students in partnership with the Decatur Housing Authority, and a Robotics Showcase each spring to highlight our season and introduce our work to the community. They also raise funds by selling 3D printed toys and other items at community events such as the Decatur Book Festival and Oakhurst Porchfest.

We are proud to have sponsorship support from companies including Johnson Controls, Bosch and 3M, in addition to parent donations and employer matches from companies including Intuit and Coca-Cola. We also receive donations from the Decatur Rotary Club and the Community Center of South Decatur

Our student alumni have gotten into top universities and engineering schools including the Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Georgia, Auburn University, Clemson University, Worcester Polytechnic University, and Case Western Reserve University.

Decatur Robotics student alumni have careers and internships in high-demand fields at employers including Amazon, SpaceX, NASA, Gulfstream, United Airlines, The Aerospace Corp., Symbotic, and NCR to name a few.
