Ásmundur Oddsson is a senior data scientist at deCODE genetics, specializing in the analysis of genetic data, including genome-wide association studies and rare variant analysis. They began their journey in research as a student lab assistant at the University of Greifswald in 2003, where they studied human biology. After earning a Master's degree in Human Biology in 2006, Ásmundur completed a PhD at the Karolinska Institutet in 2013, focusing on the functional genomics of glomerular disease. Currently, they are also pursuing a Master of Science in Applied Statistics at Háskóli Íslands, with aspirations of running a research laboratory in the future.
