Marisa Mitchell, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Marisa began their career as a Special Education Teacher at Howard County Public Schools in 2010. Marisa then worked as a Special Education Diagnostic Prescriptive Teacher at The Foundation Schools from 2017 to 2019. In 2011, they joined the University of Maryland as a Doctoral Student and later became a Graduate Research Assistant, specializing in educational projects. From 2014 to 2015, they worked as an Education Data Analyst at Quality Information Partners, Inc. (QIP).

In 2016, Marisa Mitchell joined the University of Maryland again as a Faculty Specialist and Project Director. In 2017, they took on the role of an Independent Stylist at Stella & Dot Family of Brands.

From 2017 to 2018, Marisa Mitchell pursued a Data Science Career Track at Springboard, where they designed and conducted machine learning projects independently.

In 2019, they joined Flatiron School as a Data Science Coach and later became a Lead Instructor, specializing in Python, SQL, statistics, and machine learning.

From 2017 to the present, they have been an Independent Consultant at Beautycounter, a beauty company.

In 2020, Marisa Mitchell joined Decoded as a Product Developer, focused on Data Science. Marisa was later promoted to Senior Product Developer and then became the Mindset Product Director. In their role, they developed course content, conducted data analysis, and managed a global team of developers and facilitators.

Marisa Mitchell, Ph.D., completed their education at the University of Maryland. Marisa obtained a B.S./M.Ed. degree in Special Education from 2004 to 2008. Following this, they pursued further studies in the field and received an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Education Measurement and Statistics from 2011 to 2015. Finally, Marisa completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Special Education from 2011 to 2016. Additionally, they have obtained additional certifications in Data Science Career Track from Springboard (E-Learning) and Python programming from Code School.
