Head of Venture Science Doctorate Programme at Deep Science Ventures

Aaron Appleton's work experience begins in 2014, where they served as the Head of the Science Department and Game Designer at NYC's Quest to Learn. Aaron was trained in game design through the Institute of Play to create game-based learning experiences. Moving on, in 2017, Aaron became a founding team member of ALU's School of Wildlife Conservation, where they led the design and delivery of their full product portfolio for conservation. In 2020, they joined the Harvard Innovation Labs as the Founder of Limehouse, a startup incubated in the lab that connects learners, experts, and 3D artists through the co-creation of learning experiences. Continuing their entrepreneurial journey, Aaron then joined On Deck in 2021 as the Learning Experience Design Lead, where they designed playful learning experiences for On Deck Founders. In 2022, they founded Exogram, a design studio focused on developing new forms of learning through embodied play experiences. Lastly, starting in 2023, Aaron is currently serving as the Head of the Venture Science Doctorate Programme at Deep Science Ventures.

Aaron Appleton has a Master's degree in Design for Learning from Harvard University. Additionally, they have a Master's degree in Earth System Science Education from Brooklyn College. Aaron also completed cross-registration at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In terms of certifications, they obtained Improv 101 & Improv 201 from The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in June 2019. Aaron is also an Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver certified by PADI since July 2016, and a Freediver certified by Apnea Total Freediving Education since the same month and year. There is no information regarding the obtained month and year for their Wildland Firefighter certification, obtained from the Fire & Rescue Training Institute (University of Missouri-Columbia).
