William Summers

Associate - Bioeconomy, Agriculture & Nature at Deep Science Ventures

William Summers is an experienced professional in the bioeconomy, agriculture, and nature sectors, currently serving as an Associate at Deep Science Ventures since September 2022. In this role, William leads the identification of innovative opportunities and collaborates with Founders in Residence to enhance food production and environmental impact, working with various stakeholders including corporate entities, government funders, and philanthropic organizations. Prior to this, William held significant positions at BBSRC, including Head of Funding Delivery for Strategic Programmes and Senior Portfolio Manager, where projects such as 'Reforming UK Food Systems' were developed. William’s academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Philosophy in Plant Genetics and Food Security from the University of Cambridge, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Biology from The University of Sheffield. William's research experience encompasses a postdoctoral role focusing on nitrogen symbiosis for the Gates Foundation and an internship at the International Livestock Research Institute, where William assessed the socio-economic impacts of climate-smart feedstock in Kenya.
