Auxiliary Engineer at DEEP

Robert Wheeler is an experienced engineer currently serving as an Auxiliary Engineer at DEEP since May 2023, focusing on the design of auxiliary systems for the Sentinel habitat and submersibles programs. Prior to this, Robert worked as a Senior Marine & Mechanical Engineer at Babcock International Group from February 2022 to May 2023, and held roles at BMT between September 2015 and February 2022, including Senior Naval Engineer and Naval Engineer, supporting the UK Ministry of Defence. Robert’s early career includes a role as a Graduate Naval Design Engineer and an Industrial Placement Student at QinetiQ Ltd, where contributions were made to innovative cooling technology for firefighters and the development of stealth technology. Robert holds a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bath, completed in 2015.
