Over 80% of our planet’s oceans remain almost completely unknown, unobserved, and unexplored. Yet marine ecosystems hold undiscovered solutions to many of the greatest problems facing humanity - including climate change, biodiversity loss and human health.

The Research and Operations Team at DEEP is dedicated to advancing the organisation's mission by conducting cutting-edge research and ensuring seamless operational support. This team, comprising experts in maritime operations, pressure hull design, ocean engineering, medical safety, mission planning, submersible operations, and human diver performance, works collaboratively to develop and implement innovative technologies and methodologies for deep-sea exploration and preservation. Their efforts are pivotal in uncovering new insights into marine ecosystems and driving transformative solutions to protect and sustainably interact with our planet’s oceanic environments.

The Technical and Engineering team at DEEP is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining innovative technologies that enable sustainable exploration, living, and working in deep water environments. Led by the Director, Engineering, and supported by roles such as the Associate Technical Lead and Senior Equipment Technicians, this team ensures all equipment meets stringent operational and safety standards. By collaborating closely with the Director Of Scientific Research, the team integrates scientific goals with advanced engineering solutions to enhance our understanding and protection of the oceans.

Technical and Engineering

The Creative and Design Team at DEEP is responsible for conceptualizing and producing visual content that communicates the organization's mission and discoveries effectively. This team develops compelling graphics, videos, and artistic representations that help illustrate DEEP’s research and technological advancements in underwater exploration. Through innovative design and creativity, they aim to raise awareness about marine preservation and engage the public in DEEP’s initiatives to protect the planet’s deep water environments.
