Hou-Pu Chou

EVP, Hardware Engineering at Deepcell

Hou-Pu Chou is the EVP of Hardware Engineering at Deepcell. Hou-Pu has over a decade of experience in leading cross-functional engineering teams and establishing metrology systems.

Chou started their career as a Principal Scientist at Pacific Biosciences, where they led a team responsible for microfluidic development of the company's next generation of product lines. Hou-Pu was heavily involved in various aspects of fabrication process development and back-end packaging process development of PacBio's core ZMW devices.

In 2016, Chou joined CellMax Life as the Associate Vice President of Engineering. Hou-Pu established the engineering team from scratch, securing a Taiwan government fund of NT$23M for a major instrumentation project. Hou-Pu drove the main instrumentation/automation project through marketing assessment, concept and early development phases in just over a year time frame. This included biochips, reagents and large instrument systems. Hou-Pu also engaged vendors and consultants for several regulation requirements, CE, ISO13485, and GMP.

Hou-Pu Chou has a Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech, and a B.S. in Physics from National Taiwan University. Hou-Pu also has a certification from the American Management Association in Certificate of Completion in Preparing for Leadership.

Their manager is Maddison Masaeli, Co-Founder & CEO. They work with Nianzhen Li - VP, Biology, Rudy Hofmeister - VP, Product Development, and Marc Montserrat - Chief Business Officer.
