Deeper Connections UK helps schools, colleges and education professionals recognise what may be happening beneath changes in a child or young person’s behaviour and respond with greater confidence, clarity and compassion.
Led by multi award-winning Mental Wellbeing Speaker, Author and Training Provider Andrea Marsh, our specialist training focuses on mental health, eating disorders, self-harm, suicide awareness, safeguarding conversations and early recognition.

Andrea combines professional training with powerful lived experience as the parent of a teenager who faced severe mental health challenges, anorexia, self-harm, suicide risk and almost two years of hospitalisation. This gives her a unique understanding of the young person, the family behind the scenes and the educators trying to offer the right support.

Our practical, engaging training helps staff:
• Recognise early and less obvious warning signs
• Understand what may sit behind withdrawal, anger, perfectionism, anxiety or changes around food
• Begin appropriate conversations without increasing shame or distress
• Respond within professional and safeguarding boundaries
• Record and escalate concerns appropriately
• Communicate more effectively with parents and carers
• Protect their own emotional wellbeing

Andrea’s signature Behind the Behaviour training is available as two-hour sessions, half-day workshops, full-day professional development, inset training, conference presentations and parent awareness events.

The aim is not to turn educators into therapists. It is to ensure the adults closest to children and young people feel better equipped to notice concerns, start safer conversations and take the right next step.
When staff understand the behaviour, they can respond to the person behind it.
