Kris Efland is a seasoned engineering executive with extensive experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and autonomous vehicle technologies. Currently serving as VP of Engineering at Deepgram since May 2025, Kris has previously held leadership roles at Amazon Web Services from January 2022 to April 2025, including general management of SageMaker Geospatial. Prior to AWS, Kris led autonomous vehicle tooling at Lyft, advancing through various engineering leadership roles at HERE Technologies, where the focus was on automated driving technologies. Kris's entrepreneurial spirit is reflected in the co-founding and CTO role at Teforia, alongside earlier technology leadership positions at Nokia, MY LIFE, and IntraMeta, which specialized in cloud computing and social networking solutions.
