Jason Reed

Jason Reed has over 18 years of work experience. Jason started their career as an IT Support Technician at Aspen Pharmacare East London in 2003. Jason then worked as a Provincial IT Specialist for the Small Enterprise Development Agency, where they designed and implemented a fully routable Wide Area Network using Virtual Private Networking over ADSL.

Later, they joined Resilient Servers and Networks as a System Engineer before moving to First Technology as a Solutions Architect. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing IT solutions and acting as a trusted technical advisor to clients.

From 2014 to 2019, Jason worked at Resilient IT as an IT System Engineer. Jason played a crucial role in designing and implementing IT infrastructure for clients. Jason was also involved in deploying the Syspro 7 ERP system at a large national retail concern.

In 2019, Jason joined Business Technology Group (BTG) as a Senior Technical Engineer. Jason worked with technologies such as Server 2019, Exchange, Active Directory, Office 365, Azure, 3CX, Veeam, Citrix, RDS Farms, SQl, Shadow Protect, and M365 Security. Jason contributed to system design, solutions architecture, and systems implementation at BTG.

After that, Jason worked as a Senior IT Operations Engineer at EastPack Limited. Jason then joined Landfall Advisory as a Senior Modern Workplace (M365) Consultant, where they focused on customer onboarding and providing cloud solutions to clients.

Currently, Jason is working at DEFEND as a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer. Jason'srole involves assisting customers on their path toward cyber resilience and being well-versed in the Microsoft Defender security stack of products.

Jason Reed's education history begins in 1997 when they obtained their Matric Certificate from Port Rex, where they studied Maths, Science, and Technical Mechanical subjects. In 2003, they pursued a Certificate in PC Engineering at Damelin. From 2004 to 2008, they attended the Microsoft Learning Academy and earned their MCSE degree in Systems Engineering.

In 2008, Jason obtained a certification from VMWARE Partner Central Online Learning in VISP and VSP. In 2010, they achieved the EXIN global certification for information management in ITIL Version 3. That same year, they received training in Sage CRM administration.

In 2011 and 2012, Jason pursued two different certifications related to VMware at Torque IT and became a VMware Certified Professional.

In 2012, they obtained a Symantec Certified Specialist certification. Moving forward to 2020 and 2021, they became a Certified Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert through Microsoft, along with obtaining certifications in Microsoft 365 Fundamentals and Azure Fundamentals.

Jason continued to expand their knowledge in the field of cybersecurity by receiving certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate and Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert in 2022.

In 2023, they obtained the Certified in Cybersecurity degree from ISC2 and attained another Certified in Cybersecurity certification.

It is worth mentioning that Jason also acquired several additional certifications throughout their career: MS-101 Microsoft 365 Mobility and Security, Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals, Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate, and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. These additional certifications were received at different time points, with the latest obtained in 2021.
