Chris Heaton has held several significant positions in various departments within the UK government, currently serving as Deputy Director of Trade Policy and Negotiations at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since April 2021. Prior experience includes roles as Deputy Director of EU Strategy and Head of Digital Markets and Advertising at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, and Private Secretary to the Cabinet Secretary at the Cabinet Office. Chris also served as a Senior Policy Advisor during the Civil Service Fast Stream and as a strategy analyst during a secondment at Thomson Reuters. Prior to government service, Chris worked in education as Head of Faculty at Rivers Academy West London and as a History Teacher with Teach First. Educational qualifications include an Executive Masters in Public Policy from The London School of Economics and Political Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Oxford, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Canterbury Christ Church University.
