Chris Jacobs currently serves as the Defra Head of Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Subcommittees (non-EU) at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since February 2024. Previously, Chris held the position of Head of Secretariat for the UK Science Partnership for Animal and Plant Health at the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council from September 2016 to February 2024. Prior roles include leading the horizon scanning program at the Government Office for Science and serving as Team Leader for Evidence Policy at Defra. Chris has extensive experience in policy management, having worked in various capacities within the government and related organizations since 2002. Chris holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Combined Sciences from the University of Leicester.
