Lead User Researcher at DEFRA

Dan Clayton is a seasoned user researcher currently serving as the Lead User Researcher at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since November 2022, after previously holding the role of Senior User Researcher at the Department for Education from August 2020 to October 2022. Dan's academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in International and Intercultural Communication and a Master’s Degree in Intercultural Communication for Business, both obtained from the University of Warwick, where Dan also contributed as an Early Career Researcher and Associate Tutor. Dan has extensive teaching experience, having designed and delivered seminars and workshops on various subjects, including Research Methods and Intercultural Pragmatics, at multiple institutions, including the University of Warwick and the University of Wolverhampton. Prior roles include Project Research Agent at GDCC and Lecture Assistant, demonstrating strong communication and intercultural skills throughout a diverse career in academia and research.
