Head Of Climate Adaptation

Dan McCartney serves as the Head of Climate Adaptation at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since January 2019, managing key areas such as ozone-depleting substances and food security. Prior experience includes roles at the Department for Communities and Local Government where Dan was involved in the Grenfell Rehousing and Briefing Teams and contributed to the Local Growth and Jobs Bill as a Bill Manager. Dan's previous positions also include Senior Policy Adviser for public service and business rate reforms and a focus on devolution discussions in the Local Government Policy Directorate. Earlier work at Croydon Council as District Energy Project Manager showcased expertise in sustainable energy initiatives, while Dan's initial career involved consultancy roles emphasizing environmental policy and climate change programs. Dan holds a degree in Public Policy from King's College London and a degree in Politics and International Studies with Criminology from Middlesex University.
