Gioele Passoni is currently the R&D Investment Strategy Lead at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, following a tenure as Lead Adviser in Nature Recovery and Greener Farming at Natural England. Previously, they completed a PhD in Environmental Research at the University of Oxford, where they also served as a Graduate Tutor and Demonstrator. Gioele has held various research roles, including a Research Assistantship at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research and a Field Principal Investigator at Tethys Research Institute. They also worked as a Freelance Researcher for BirdLife International and as a PhD Fellow in collaboration with Fondazione Edmund Mach. Before their scientific career, Gioele was a professional football player with AC Milan.
