Team Leader - Convention On International Trade In Endangered Species (cites) at DEFRA

Kat Holmes is a seasoned professional in environmental policy and international negotiations, currently serving as Team Leader for International Environmental Negotiations at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since December 2017. As the UK National Focal Point for the Ramsar Convention on wetlands, Kat is instrumental in shaping the UK's international wetlands policy and manages key wetland sites across the UK and its territories. Previous roles include Deputy Team Leader for International Conservation, where Kat oversaw significant funding programs for biodiversity, and leadership positions during the UK's G7 presidency. Kat's experience also spans advocacy for marine conservation at the RSPB, shaping policies on illegal wildlife trade and climate change at the British High Commission, and various internships focused on wildlife conservation and climate impacts. Kat holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Bath and a Master's Degree in Sustainable Development from SOAS University of London.
