Margaret Bates is an accomplished academic and industry leader with extensive experience in sustainable waste management and environmental initiatives. Currently, Margaret serves as the Head of the UK pEPR Scheme administrator at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and holds the position of Visiting Professor and Professor of Sustainable Wastes Management at The University of Northampton. Margaret's expertise includes advisory roles on various projects and initiatives, such as the Scottish Government Expert Panel on Environmental Charging and the CSERVEES H2020 Research project. With a background in managing significant research funding and consultancy projects, Margaret has also served as Executive Director of On Pack Recycling Label and Managing Director of OPRL Limited. A prior Chair of the Executive Committee for the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management, Margaret's educational qualifications include a PhD from the University of East London and a BS from the Polytechnic of East London.
