Michelle Hackett is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in fisheries science and policy development at Defra since June 2013. As Head of International Fisheries Science, Michelle leads the UK's fisheries science policy, aiming to position the UK as a leader in fisheries management while fostering international partnerships. Previous roles at Defra include coordinating the EU Exit strategy for waste and recycling, and negotiating fishing opportunities between the UK and the EU. Earlier experience at Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust as a Medical Records Officer involved managing patient information requests and facilitating medical appointments. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Sussex, acquired between 2007 and 2010.
